A BBQ-ready Old Fashioned recipe using smoky whiskey, grilled garnish, and Bartender’s Secret Sauce Old Fashioned Syrup
Memorial Day marks the start of summer, and nothing pairs better with a backyard BBQ than a perfectly balanced Old Fashioned. This version is bold, smoky, and easy to make—whether you’re crafting just one or batching for a crowd. Bartender’s Secret Sauce Old Fashioned Cocktail Syrup takes the work out of the mix by delivering consistent flavor and the perfect blend of sweetness and spice in every pour.
To add a layer of smokiness that complements grilled fare, we recommend using High West Campfire, a unique blend of bourbon, rye, and peated Scotch. It’s robust, smoky, and made for warm-weather sipping. Finish it off with a grilled orange or peach slice for a seasonal touch that makes this cocktail as much a part of the BBQ as the food itself.
Ingredients:
2 oz High West Campfire (or another smoky bourbon or rye)
¼ oz Bartender’s Secret Sauce Old Fashioned Cocktail Syrup
1 dash Angostura bitters (optional for added spice)
Garnish: Grilled orange wheel or grilled peach slice
Instructions:
In a mixing glass, combine High West Campfire and Bartender’s Secret Sauce Old Fashioned Syrup.
Add ice and stir for 15 seconds until well chilled.
Strain into a rocks glass over one large square ice cube.
Garnish with a grilled orange or peach slice.
Serve outdoors and enjoy with friends, family, and BBQ.
This recipe captures the essence of summer entertaining—big flavor, easy prep, and crowd appeal. The smoke from High West Campfire pairs beautifully with the grilled fruit garnish, while Bartender’s Secret Sauce provides a well-balanced base with layered spice, molasses, and cherry notes. It’s the kind of cocktail that feels thoughtful without the hassle—ideal for holiday weekends.
