Nothing says âKentucky Derbyâ like a frosty Mint Julep in hand. This Southern staple is traditionally made with bourbon, fresh mint, and sugarâbut weâve elevated it with Bartenderâs Secret Sauce USDA Organic Demerara Syrup. The rich, caramel-like notes of demerara add warmth and depth, perfectly complementing the bold bourbon and refreshing mint. It's a simple swap that makes all the difference.
Whether youâre donning a seersucker suit or a wide-brimmed hat, this cocktail brings the charm of Churchill Downs to your home bar.
2 oz Bourbon (we recommend a high-rye for extra kick)
0.5 oz Bartenderâs Secret Sauce USDA Organic Demerara Syrup
8-10 fresh mint leaves, plus more for garnish
Crushed ice
In a julep cup or rocks glass, gently muddle the mint leaves with the Demerara Syrup to release the oils.
Add the bourbon and fill the glass with crushed ice.
Stir well until the glass is frosty.
Top with more crushed ice and garnish with a generous sprig of mint (give it a slap to wake up the aroma).
Hosting a Derby Day party? Serve up a Mint Julep bar with crushed ice, fresh mint, and bottles of Bartenderâs Secret Sauce Demerara Syrup on display. Itâs a guaranteed photo opâand a crowd favorite.
